He could be sick: Or he may have an allergy, or he could have ge reflux. Or even reacting to particulates on his airway surfaces. There are so many causes of cough it would be best to have an in person evaluation by a skilled pediatrician. If he cannot be evaluated, then i would make sure any smokers smoke outside, place a hepa filter, and a vaporizer where he sleeps. Keep him away from cats and dogs until well.
