Depends: Most cases of receding gums can be treated by grafting over the exposed root. You should see a periodontist or gum specialist to discuss with him/her your options. As far as reversing the process i'm afraid that is impossible. Aggressive tooth brushing, grinding or bruxism, and orthodontics may contribute to recession.

May be critical: Gum recession is different in everyone - some patients have receded gums because of underlying periodontal (gum) disease, others because they have been treated and the gum profiles remain receded even though disease has been controlled. Make sure you have thorough, ongoing care by your dentist, and have regular periodontal (gum) and occlusal (bite) components of a complete exam.

It's possible: Your dentist or periodontist can determine the best type of procedure to use on you based on your individual needs and diagnosis.
