AIDS: There are case reports of seroconversion (going from a positive to negative test) while still having the disease. There is a rare disease known as idiopathic cd4+ t lymphocytopenia which may produce the syndrome of aids without testing positive for hiv. Aids is the late, severe stage of hiv.
