HIV antibody testing: The HIV antibody blood tests become positive within a few weeks of acquiring the virus and then remain positive for life. With the standards tests now used, there is no such thing as someone with AIDS who has a negative test result. That might have happened very rarely with the earliest blood tests, but those have not been used for the last 20 years.
