CT scan risk: There are items that can increase the lifetime risk of cancer. A single ct chest scan will increase that risk more than an xray. But if you need the ct chest scan, than the benefits can outweigh the risk. Smoking is a much worse avoidable risk factor for cancer. Also, to decrease cancer risk, eat a healthy diet including fruits and vegetables and reduce red meat.
