Mild increased risk: There is radiation exposure--> 1 reason to only get a ct scan if truly necessary. A typical scan may yield ~3x typical annual radiation exposure for most people. This may increase with more involved scans (e.g., with &w/o contrast), but more advanced scanning techniques are being developed to further limit the radiation exposure. It is difficult to assess the amount of risk from this exposure.
