Q-Tips bad idea-Why?: Too big; they pack cerumen (ear wax), the portion you do not see come out, deeper into canal. Only the middle third of the ear canal skin secretes waxes; helps prevent infection; slowly removes particles/bacteria from ear canal when chewing. This skin is also quite thin, over bone; can easily be traumatized. Better strategy: work shampoo into each canal with finger tip at each hair washing.
