No: I don't know why you are taking this medication; there are many different conditions that are treated with it. Many of these conditions can be treated with other medications as well. In any event, the medication itself is not known to have any negative effect on life expectancy.

Can't predict: No one can predict the length of your life, but metoprolol by itself should not shorten it. What is more important is the reason you are taking it. Knowing the underlying problem being treated might help us answer your question.
