Personal preference: Both laser and radiofrequency are fairly similar in action and results. Choice depends on the personal preference and training of physician.

Depends on doctor: Radiofrequency energy has limited applications & does have a role in treating certain cardiac conditions, such as arrythmias. Cardiiologists are experts in the heart, but not all of them treat arrythmias. In term of varicose vein treatment with radiofrequency ablation, this is a very common treatment & should be performed by a board-certified vascular surgeon, who are considered vein experts.

RF vs Laser: The use of RF or laser for endovenous closure procedures is a matter of choice of the treating physicians. Both do the job well and the long term results of both are very similar. I prefer laser over RF. Currently there are other options for closing veins including Varithena, Venaseal and Clarivein. I still prefer laser over all of them.
