Prednisone vs HC: The biggest difference between Hydrocortisone (cortef) and Prednisone is the amount of time they stay in yor bloodstream or half life. Prednisone has a longer half life then Hydrocortisone and is give once a day vs twice a day with hydrocortisone. Hydrortisone is usually the preferred steroid to treat cortisol deficiency because it more closely reproduces the diurnal variation of cortisol producti.
