A 18-year-old male asked:

i have a rash that won't spot spreading even though i've been administered prednisone 4mlg and it's so itchy hydrocortisone doesn't help at all.

See doctor: If the rash is bothersome, you need to see your doctor. If it is itchy, try taking antihistamine. You should not self-medicate with prednisone which at 4 mg does not really have much therapeutic effect anyway.

What could be the cause of swollen glands in my neck, fatigue, loss of appetite, headache, and itchy eyes?

Possible infection: Swollen glands are almost always a sign of infection. Fatigue, appetite loss, and headache are all non-specific symptoms that can also be related to infection. This should be evaluated by a physician.

Is developing inflamed joints, muscle weakness, and a skin rash after having a chemical stress test normal?

No: This usually does not happen. There may have been an underlying issue that presented itself with the symptoms after the stress test. Seek the help of board-certified allergists to further evaluate this problem.

I drank alcohol, the next day I woke up I got red spots or rashes in my back, chest and arms.Is it allergy?

Possibly: Persons may develop allergic antibodies to the componets of wine (grape) or beer (barley, rye, hops) or even to the brewer's yeast. Some are also sensitive to the perservatives used such as sulfites. Un-sulfited wine is available in most wine shops. If consumption of any food or beverage repeatly results in an allergic symptom, then you are by definition allergic, regardless of the mechanism.

What are possible causes for a one sided large, soft, non tender swelling palpable under the jaw or in the back of the throat? No fever, rash, lesion

Several things. . .: If you are talking about swelling under the jaw: salivary gland stone, salivary gland tumor, inflammatory lymph node, cyst, lipoma. I am not sure what you mean by the back of the throat but possible swellings back there would include: tonsil edema, tonsil inflammation, fluid collection due to an abscess (but there should be pain) or noninflammatory causes.

If only one tonsil is enlarged (non-painful) and you also have an enlarged "soft node" under your jaw on the same side, I recommend that you see an ENT soon. This could be just an infection but I am also worried about a cancer. It is better to get this diagnosis checked out first and then you can worry about what it else it could be.

A 20-year-old member asked:

I got a rash from nose-chin after halloween. I had 3 antibiotics, nothing happened. Could it be an allergy to chocolate/gluten/milk/lecithin....?

1 doctor answer3 doctors weighed in

Unlikely: It would be unusual to have a persistent rash for two months after eating halloween candy. Skin inflammation from continued exposure to a skin irritant or allergen like cosmetics would be more likely although i don't know what your rash looks like. An allergist or dermatologist can patch test you to common causes of rash (contact dermatitis).
