Acute back strain: Very common condition. Pain is usually worse at night. Ice the area for 10 minutes, followed by massage not in midline or on bone but on muscle itself (massage hurts as you go deeper but takes away the spasm) followed by gentle stretching of back as tolerated shown on u tube, . Last 10 minutes before sleep and on waking up use heating pad , to warm up muscle. Do as often as you can.
