Meniscus tear: The meniscus is a supportive cushion in your knee. Over time it can wear out, and this is part of the development of arthritis in the knee. When it tears it can cause pain. If not addressed the pain will continue and it can cause increased damage in the knee, sort of like having a stone in your shoe. Taking the tear out helps with the pain. However it will not stop the arthritis.
