Could be precancer: A number of cancers are preceded by precancerous lesions. By that we mean the cells are abnormal and architect distorted but the cells have not broken through the basement membrane , the sac surrounding the tubules or glands of the organ . This is not uncommon in the breast , cervix , prostate and the skin , and depending where is commonly treated to prevent progression to cancer.

Need more info: What was biopsied and why? What were the actual results? Lesions other than cancer can be just as serious. It would be prudent to discuss the results with your doctor and may be consult the pathologist who examined the tissue collected at biopsy.
