Difficult problem: Your magnesium level should be checked. Trying over the counter magnesium is an option even if your level is normal, also although not well understood Benadryl (diphenhydramine) 25 mg (antihistamine) works great for night (nocturnal) leg cramps. Also if not contra indicated for you your md may also try Diltiazem a calcium channel blocker at night.
