Psychologist?: A physiologist would not treat your anxiety. Did you mean your psychiatrist doesn't think you need a psychologist? Anxiety medication is effective, but it is most effective in conjunction with psychotherapy. Ask your psychiatrist about your treatment plan. Physiologist?: Physiologists are scientists who study the function of living systems, but they aren't trained to treat people with anxiety. Pills alone are not enough to treat anxiety either. Some psychiatrists provide both talk therapy and medications as needed. Does yours? Psychologists also provide talk therapy, which is essential in recovery from anxiety even when using medications too. Be well.
