A member asked:

Will parathyroidectomy affect my appetite? directly after surgery should i be particular about my diet ?

No effect: If one or two parathyroids are removed leaving a thyroid lobe with 2 remaining parathyroids there will be no effect. If all 4 parathyoids are damaged or removed, the calcium levels in the serum will drop and require exogenous hormone replacement. Apetite here may be effected.

Parathroidectomy: After a parathyroidectomy, you should feel better. Once the parathyroid gland is removed, patients have increased appetite, less bone and feel much better. You should eat calcium rich foods, especially the first few weeks after surgery, as calcium will go into bone after the operation. If you have no dietary restrictions, eat what you like. Good luck.
