Depends...: If you are 38, not participating in recreational sports , and have an isolated acl tear( no meniscus tear) then physical therapy to regain motion and strengthen your quads is an option...Functional knee bracing can be helpful in some patients. Discuss w/ your ors. If u develop 'giving way' episodes w/ normal activities (despite above)than acl reconstruction would be indicated. Best of luck!
