A member asked:

Ana 1280. dsdna 23 iu/ml (<40 is neg), other ena neg. not yet tested for histone. have some symptoms. is dsdna significant here? developing sle?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Many patients with lupus only have a positive ANA with all other autoantibodies being negative. If the dna was positive, it is more specific for lupus than the ana. The histone is less valuable unless you are screening for a drug induced lupus.
