Benzoyl peroxide: Topical benzoyl peroxide as tolerated is usually sufficient for the mild stuff. If you're not clear in two weeks, get with your physician. If you prefer a retinoic acid derivative or a salicylic acid wash, you can try as well.

Benzoyl peroxide: It doesn't have to be pricey or gimmicky. Find a strength and frequency that you can tolerate, and mild acne will usually remit in two weeks. If not, get with your personal physician.

Scientific Rx: Benzoyl peroxide for starters. If not sufficient, topical Clindamycin and/or a topical retinoic acid derivative the latter especially if there are a lot of blackheads. Next step for a lady is the oral contraceptive pill if it is right for her. Then a systemic antibiotic right for the person. The big guns is accutane, not pleasant cheap or without risks but hugely effective and very much worth it.

A few options: For over the counter methods try using products that have benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, alcohol, and acetone. For prescription treatments you may be prescribed antibiotics, retinoids or vitamin a derivatives, azelaic acid, oral contraceptives, or spironolactone. Always ask a dermatologist about the possible affects and the risks vs benefits of each treatment. Make sure it's best for you.

If mild...: ... Topical benzoyl peroxide is usually sufficient. If not, adding topical Clindamycin should do the trick.

Start easy: Topical benzoyl peroxide faithfully for two weeks clears most mild disease. Your physician may add topical Clindamycin and/or a topical retinoic acid derivative. For tougher cases, he/she can still help.

Scientific Rx: If topical benzoyl peroxide that is available over-the-counter has not worked, you will probably get a good result from your physician adding something such as topical Clindamycin or a retinoic acid derivative. Especially if it's on your trunk you may need something stronger. Good luck.

Acne pimples: Stop eating nuts, peanut butter, chocolate, and cut down on dairy products. Over-the-counter bpo (benzoyl peroxide) products help. But in the long run, only a dermatologist can help by prescribing oral antibiotics and prescription topical (surface) medication for you.

Time...: For starters go and see a good dermatologist; he/she will put you on a good skin regimen(i like tea tree scrubs and oatmeal soaps for starters) and you'll need to know what type of skin you actually have. Then all you have to do is wait; which may be the hardest part. If you have already scarred this may be more problematic; but there are certain medicines and treatments to address this too :).
