Can you suggest any alternative to having a permanent catheter for an 85 year old male?

Ask family doc: Talk to that person's family doc and/or geriatrician (doctor who specializes in care of elderly). Prior to finding alternatives, need to find why doctors believe he needs permanent catheter. If it's due to enlarged prostate leading to urinary retention, then there are urologic procedures to shrink or remove prostate. If patient is bed bound w/ulcers, then scheduled in & out cath may be an option
