My 77 year old husband has had a catheter in place for 2weeks awaiting partial prostatectomy. today we are seeing blood in the bag. is this normal?

Probably OK but call: It's common to see some blood in the bag from having a urinary catheter. As long as it's a small amount and not pure blood filling the bag, it's not an emergency. It's still worth a call to the doctor to let him or her know. It's possible your husband has a urinary tract infection.
