No max dose: There is no max dose of i131. I assume you are talking about treatment after having thyroid cancer. To ablate remaining thyroid tissue following total thyroidectomy, the dose range is 30 to 150 mci, depending on the risk of recurrent disease.Higher doses can be used to treat metastatic disease, but it is rare to go above 200 for any one treatment. Secondary cancer can occur with high total doses.
