Don`t worry: The patch you are describing is very nonspecific which means it may represent many things. Do you have any associated health problems? If it is not causing problems i would suggest waiting 1-2 weeks. Rarely, a patch can be indicative of a skin infection or other disease process. If the lesion gets bigger or doesn`t regress, see a doctor.

BIOPSY: Dermatology is, in large part, a visual diagnosis. That being said, anytime I am worried, or you, the patient, is worried, I biopsy the lesion. The exception is when the lesion is so easily diagnosed, which happens many times, a biopsy is not called for. Talk to your doctor. Sincerely, Dr. Latva
