Itchy patch: There are many causes of itchy skin lesions, but while waiting to see a physician, might be helpful to use Lotrimin or Lamisil (terbinafine) cream OTC used for fungal infections like ringworm. Use twice daily for 4-8 weeks as directed on the medication used. Clotrimazole must be used longer. If no effect, please schedule a visit with your physician.

Most likely Fungal: Sounds like a fungal infection--"jock itch." Apply a good over-the-counter athlete's foot powder or cream. Just make sure the powder contains talc, NOT cornstarch. Cornstarch is inexplicably the base of many anti-fungal powders, which actually feeds the fungus--like pouring gasoline on a fire. Keep on treating for 5 days after it appears to be gone.
