Can a prosthodontist take the place of a general dentist when a patient is beyond the need for fillings but has crowns, 2 unit nesbit and recession?

GP vs Prosthodontist: Both a general dentist and a prosthodontist offer similar services, although a prosthodontist has more training and experience, especially with complicated cases. There are many outstanding gp's who rival the care and expertise of prosthodontists. However, if your own gp cannot satisfy your needs or expectation, then definitely seek the care of a prosthodontist. If necessary get 2 second opinions.

Definitely: After completing four years of dental school, prosthodontists receive an extra three years of specialized training in an american dental association accredited graduate program. Many prosthodontists in the beginning of their carrier, prior to the specialty program, practice general dentistry for several years. Good luck.

Absolutely !: We are specialists in complex reconstruction but also can provide routine dental treatment for our patients. Some patients simply wish to be treated by a specialist due to the advanced training. You may also benefit from a Periodontist regarding the recession. Start with the Prosthodontist and they can provide appropriate referrals as needed. Best of luck.
