I have mild gum recession on both upper canines. dentist recommends putting filling into the notches to protect further recession. is this common?

Wrong treatment: The recession is not caused by the wear on your teeth, placing a material on the spot will probably cause even more recession. The right treatment is to find the cause of the recession, (most of the times is excessive brushing) control, and add more gum. Once you establish a healthy gum, then you can think in covering the wear with a aesthetic material.

Options: I would obtain more than one opinion to discuss the options available for treatment. You do not want to have fillings that may cause more recession. Need to make sure the gum tissue in the entire mouth is also healthy.

Gum recession: Mild gum recession may just be your side of normal.! you may be an agressve brusher! a gum graft or filling are both answers but may be the wrong treatment plan ! canines tend to have more recession because of the position in the mouth . this is helpful but a hands on second opinion is in order
