Possible allergies: There are numerous causes for the sensation that you are having in your eye. One thing that comes to mind is allergies. However this will usually affect both eyes. You may also be developing an infection (pink eye). Eye trauma with a corneal abrasion can do the same thing. Either way get checked out if the symptoms persist. Hope this helps.

Conjunctivitis: Is an inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva also called "pink eye. It is the most common eye infection. The most common pink eye symptoms are: tearing, redness, itching and gritty feeling. It is a treatable condition, but very contagious. Rec.: see your pcp or ophthalmologist for evaluation and treatment.
