A member asked:

Can lab results take a few days, or is my doctor reviewing my issue?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Work flow lab work: Lab work has three phases- pre-analytic (all the things from collection of the specimen until the test is performed), analytic (doing the actual test) and then post-analytic (reporting, transport, filing, and response). The last phase is generally the longest, but depending on the test itself and where it is done, the first two may also take a while. Most doctors give themselves a buffer of a week
