A member asked:

Will spinal cord injuries show up on an x-ray? please help me docs!

No: Simple x-rays can only show damage to the vertebral bodies themselves. MRI is needed to evaluate the actual spinal cord.

No: Injury to the spinal cord does not show up on a simple x-ray. An x-ray can demonstrate injury to bone of the spine surrounding the cord. A MRI is ideally used to visualize the soft neurologic tissues of the spinal cord.
