Any reasons why my ears crackle with an ear infection?

Fluid in your ear.: Many ear infections have fluid behind the eardrum, which is infected. Sometimes that fluid causes a crackling sensation. Also, if you are putting any ear drops in your ear for pain or a swimmer's ear, that may cause crackling sounds.
