A member asked:

Can any doc explain why are some nutrients taken up by the blood steam and other the lymphatic system?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not: The lymphatics are not involved with nutrients. Lymphatic channels return extra-cellular fluid to the central venous circulation and heart. The lymphatic system is also involved in fighting infection in regional lymph nodes and in removing senescent red blood cells (in the spleen).
