How do i find what's the big deal with organic and non-gmo foods?

Modern times: Most of my scientist friends tell me that we are able to feed 7 billion people only because today's technologies protect crops from weeds, plant diseases and insects. Whether these technologies are also making is sick is a question you'll need to decide for yourself. Some physicians here believe that they are, but I do not know any colleagues personally who 'eat only organic' or shun GMO's.
