Personal preference: In general, as long as a toothpaste has fluoride, the rest of the choices are up to you. There are toothpastes for sensitive teeth, those that help inhibit the formation of tartar, those that are supposed to promote whitening. Taste is important. Also, some are more abrasive than others, so the current condition to your teeth, especially along the gum line can be important. Your dentist can help.

Ask your Dentist: Find toothpastes with the ADA seal on the package that assures the claims on the package have been verified. See which ones advertise that they do what you need. Review the list with your Dentist. Use a pea-sized portion of toothpaste. Brush at least 2x/day for 2 full minutes by the clock. Floss or WaterPik DAILY. See your Dentist 2x/year for evaluation.
