Mirena (levonorgestrel): The Mirena (levonorgestrel) system is effective for about 5 years. If yours is now past that time frame, and you are using the withdrawal method, there is an increased chance that you could become pregnant as withdrawal is not a good method of contraception. Consider condoms plus spermacide now for better protection and see your ob/gyn if you want to find a different long term method.
