A member asked:

Transnasal endoscopy vs upper endoscopy to diagnose stomach ulcer? which is more accurate? i perfer to be awake, can i request transnasal instead?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: If your doctor just wants to see if there is an ulcer there, then the transnasal is great. However often they will want to biopsy it. They cannot do this through the transnasal approach. So have a conversation with your gastroenterologist to see what the likelihood is that he/she will want biopsies.
