Perio Surgery?: A 6mm periodontal pocket, if untreated and unresolved, over time will worsen and lead to more serious periodontal problems. How and when to eliminate the pocket is best answered by a periodontist who can examine you and is responsible for your care. If you trust one, follow the advice, and if you don't find another one. No professional wants to do unnecessary surgery.

Periodontal pocket: A 6mm pocket is a trap for food debris and bacteria. It cannot be self-cleaned, but is amenable to treatment. Surgery is just one of the successful treatments available for infected gums /bone loss. For best advice, see a gum specialist, a Periodontist, who will have all of the appropriate treatment modalities available.
