Stay cool: Staying cool, like soaking in cool water or applying cool compresses can help. Products added to the bath, like aveeno (oatmeal) may help too. Oral anti-histamines, like benadryl, (diphenhydramine) claritin, zyrtec, and generics can help with itching too. Calamine lotion is helpful sometimes.

Calamine and benedry: The best ways to keep your child comfortable with c-pox is with calamine lotion and oatmeal baths and benedryl by mouth. Clip their nails so they do less itching.
