Yes: With a middle ear infection, there is pus and fluid in the middle ear cavity. The antibiotics fight the infection, and reduce swelling, but it can take several weeks for all the fluid to clear. Antihistamines have not been found to be helpful, but sometimes decongestants may help. The fluid is pretty annoying, but if pain persists, please report to your doctor.
