Not highly likely: While this is probably not going to turn out to be cancer, until it either goes away or you obtain credible reassurance you're likely to worry. So, give it what you think is reasonable time to go away - then see a doctor for an examination. If it is serious in any way, it will get the attention it needs and while there, ask for a referral to a psychotherapist to learn ways to manage anxiety. Best!

See oral surgeon or ENT doc if you have any of these symptoms: Persistent mouth sore, persistent mouth pain, a lump or thickening in the cheek, a white/red patch on the gums, tongue, tonsil, or lining of the mouth, a sore throat, hoarseness or feeling that something is caught in the throat that does not go away, difficulty swallowing/chewing.
