Really. bad sprain, severe swelling can't move ankle at all. mri negative. could there still be damage?

Always possible: Radiologist could of missed something. Obviously , there is something wrong if the sprain was steve, and the symptom of swelling is a positive finding as well, so do as your doc tells you....If severe i hope your on crutches and not walking on it.
