How is your brain fu: How well is your brain functioning now. Encephalopathy means impaired brain function which can happen after any acute insult. But it often goes away. Have you recovered all your thinking functions now or still have any residue in terms of impaired memory or intelligence?

Encephalopathy: Encephalopathy is a rather broad and nonspecific term used by doctors to describe confusion. Encephalopathy is very common after seizures. This is called the "postictal state".

Technical: "Encephalopathy", a very broad term, means pathology of the "encephal" - brain. In practical terms: many causes. Could cause the seizures or result from them. You'll need more detail on the type of encephalopathy and how your neurologist feels this is related to your seizures. The state of encephalopathy could be temporary, permanent, resolving, or progressive. See a neurologist.
