A member asked:

Can my hiv negative be a false negative?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe but unlikely..: Timing can be important in HIV testing. If testing is conducted within a very short time of possible exposure, then it is possible for a false negative result. In general, current HIV tests are highly accurate. If you are concerned, then a retest may help. It would be good to discuss your exact situation and dates of exposure and testing with a doc or at a clinic where testing is performed.
