Many possibilities: At this point, I would advise a further work up to determine the causes of the cough. A chest radiograph, assessment for sinusitis and reflux is indicated. If you smoke, this can cause a chronic cough. There are many possible causes, and your physician will further advise.

Long cough: Hi athecooza, first of all,a cough for 6 weeks needs to be checked out by a doctor. Other symptoms can be helpful in reaching a diagnosis such as fevers, colored sputum, shortness of breath , and wheezing, to name a few. Smokers tend to get a chronic cough as well. If you are smoking, stop..forever. Certain blood pressure medications can cause a cough. Go see your doctor.
