A member asked:

Can you get pneumonia if you don't cough (by using cough suppressants) when you have acute bronchitis? or is that ok to do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Different issues. : These are two different infections, involve different areas of the lungs, and usually have different etiologies (viral, bacterial). You can't give yourself a pneumonia by suppressing the cough of bronchitis. Just make sure you're treating the right thing.
