A member asked:

Does a high deductible health plan & health savings account (hsa) make sense if we are going to have a baby?

Depends: Hsa & high deductible plans make sense if your philosophy & situation allows you to plan ahead for predicted costs & use insurance for unexpected events.Having a baby means a big outlay the first 2 yrs for vaccines & checkups all of which assure baby is on the right track. If you use a ppo /hmo or other form you will pay those costs in increased premiums but not out of pocket at the visit.
