See below: Sleep deprivation is the condition of not having enough sleep; it can be either chronic or acute. A chronic sleep-restricted state can cause fatigue, daytime sleepiness, clumsiness and weight loss or weight gain. Among children, sleep deprivation has been linked to “poorer grades, moodiness and depression.” Sleep deprivation in mice can cause death & in Children some repair some not.

Brain damage: Sleep deprivation would be an extremely rare cause of brain damage. In any event the brain will often repair some forms of damage and in some cases not - it is really related to the mechanism of injury and the severity.
