Hand/wrist Xray: The growth centers of the multiple bones of the wrist and hand change at a standard rate. When the growth centers fuze the linear growth stops. There are publications with pictures of these growth centers that can be used to monitor average, accelerated or slow bone maturity.If the bone maturity is read as normal for age 14 in a 16 year old kid, that kid has extra time to grow taller, if 18, not.
