White coat hypertension--problem in kids or adults?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends /both: Apprehension can trigger the release of hormones from the adrenal glands that make your heart race and your blood pressure elevate. The process is commonly called the "fight or flight " response. It can occur at any age when the patient can process the "white coat" to mean something scary may happen. If one relaxes with age & repetition the affect diminishes.
