A member asked:

I stepped on a sea urchin last week an unable to remove spines. no infection is visible but 2 out of 7 spines hurt when walking. what should i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Urchin spine pain: Regardless of the source, a retained foriegn body can allow for the support of a local infection. In general it is recommended that these spines be removed, surgically if necessary. A special case with sea water borne infections can be quite dangerous and you should seek immediate care.
